Teaching and Learning Using Multilingual System

Ma'am Lynnie said something about using the System of Multilingual as means of teaching here in our country. I was intrigued because using English as teaching makes some advantages and disadvantages of Multilingual. I appreciate more about what will it bring good by using it. Multilingual could be a key to our education and economies improvement.

Multilingual schools could be great can have high rank in their performance of producing outstanding students. I read an article in the internet (http://www.tesl-ej.org/wordpress/past-issues/volume6/ej24/ej24r11/) that students could have different out view on what their performance will be. "Students from other language backgrounds often feel ambivalent about multilingualism, at times experiencing intense discomfort when conversations and activities happen which they cannot participate in or comprehend" said by Tara Goldsteinis an anti-discriminatory teacher educator and critical ethnographer striving to promote inclusive schooling practices. It could cause some discomfort .

Nowadays, many students are very poor in the English. It easier to teach if we have a single teaching language, that is English. But using our Filipino language is also applicable. There are words you can't explain in English easily.

Language use and choice are complicated issuesinvolving a certain amount of discomfort as a prerequisite for finding equitable alternatives to racist and exclusionary schooling practices.Despite the challenges inherent in anti-discriminatory initiatives,Teaching and Learning in Multilingual Schools leaves advocates of inclusive pedagogy invigorated with compelling evidence that education for social justice is not only worthwhile but attainable.

7th Edition English Log (Late entry)

Whew. I had a great time this week. Our teacher discussed about how to write an essay. It was fun and nice to listen to the discussion. I've also learned that writing an essay would deal with with steps to be followed. At first, writing an essay to me was just like writing what's on my mind. Now, I'm thinking on what to write before writing it or put it in words.

Our teacher gave us a task. It's about writing a reaction essay on a certain topic or issue. I was amazed that ma'am Lynnie is watching shows in the television like The Buzz. Knowing about whats is the latest issue on showbiz is like a "chikadora" to me. I'm a type of person who does not like to know what's on showbiz. Wish i could be an artist to know what it feels like. Also hearing what other issues our teacher said, I was thinking of what will be a better issue to make a reaction essay.

It's sad to say that I was absent last Thursday, January 21 because I really had a migraine and didnt able to pass the assignment.

6th English Log (Late entry)

Last January 12, our lesson was the continuation about fragments. We also discuss a little about our prelim next meeting. On January 14, the day of our prelim exam in English 2, I had a hard time answering the last part of the test. It was about giving a topic and make an outline then form an essay. I was stocked on thinking what will be my specific topic. My thought was crumpled and I thought of using the what i used to do. Time was short but I still had finish my essay.

5th English Log

January 5th, Tuesday was our first meeting of this year 2010. Our teacher discussed about or prelim exam and to think o what will be our topic. Our topic must be related to our course And until now, I still have no topic.

This week has been a very flashy to me. I was absent last Thursday, January 7 because I had fever. I was absent for the whole day. And because of that absent, I feel like a missed a semester. There were lessons I missed and tasks to do. I don't what to do first. I hope i could cope up with the lessons I missed. Thats why last Saturday, we had make up class and I was able to attend it. I was very focus on the lessons presented to us by our teacher. I was able to cope up with the lesson with the help of my classmates.

4†H English bLoGGing

Oh yeah! Last meeting was fun. We had a group activity. It was to write or add the phrase "One fine day..." until we finish a paragraph with a given time. It was because one should start it by supplying a sentence then pass to the other person who is next to write. It was hard to write the next line if you would not read the sentences written first. Although its fun, it gave us thrill because the other part of the activity was to connect the paragraph by the other group.

The next meeting, ma'am gave us an activity to be done by group. It was just like the first activity she gave although this time it was not time pressured. She gave us a limit of not less than three hundred words but not more than five hundred words.

And the last thing I did was searching for some example paragraphs for the first home assignment given by our teacher last week. Although my partner and I didn't pass all seventeen example paragraphs, we still made to pass it.

English blogging 3

Hello. This week is so unfortunate for me. I post my second blogging just a second ago. Well, last Tuesday, I had no assignment because I didn't have a book until this day. The department said last Tuesday that there would be new books this Friday ,December 4 but when my classmates asked, there were still no books available. As for the assignment, I hope i can buy a book so that i could do the task. Thank you Ma'am for extending the deadline. It really gave me a chance.

As what I have learned a lot from last Tuesday's discussion. As how to make a paragraph outline. In outlining, you need to make a sentence not a phrase and should not make an outline that has many sentences.

In learning English, I've learned how to use or do blogging(although I'm still on the process of absorbing how to use it). In using English everyday, I could improve my knowledge, skill, and self-esteem. Through practice, I can harness and sharpen my English language. And as I practice, I can write faster and faster my communicating writing skills.

English blogging 2 (late)

I've learned a lot from English this week. It's the first time we met with our teacher. I thought she was older and tall as I were expecting, but it turned to be a medium and younger teacher. I had fun listening to her and visualizing what would be the things to be done. She set a rule that someone talked in the dialect, the one who talked would entertain the whole class. And if someone caught someone using the dialect, he or she could get a bonus points. Ha ha, its fun to think. And it would be a challenge for me to use English language in class.

Our teacher started teaching about selecting a topic and narrowing it. Selecting a topic is already too much for me. Its really hard for me to pick a topic then narrow it down. Thinking what would be its sub topics, it will cost me too much of time. But i will do my best to complete all the task given by our teacher. And this is my second blogging, although its late. Because i had a fever last week. I didn't have time to go to an internet cafe.
